Kerala’s back waters

Journeying and get in new places
Before getting ready to “Fly” to Amma, The Guru, I took a little boat trip on the backwaters of Kerala, a trip that so many people recommend you to take.
Certainly, you need more than one days and much more time to explore the vast amounts of water that exist in that area of Kerala, but an one-day tour will give you an idea of how life in the backwaters is. You will feel the pulse of the forest, and you will get to know how people make their living around the “back-waters”. If you have extra time, a longer trip with a boat house that includes accommodation, food and massage treatments will be much more relaxed and enjoyable!
In our tiny yet so educated tour, we were shown how the rope from coconut is being made; we bought homemade potato chips made with love from the local families, and learned about the corral procedures for extracting the calcium, we admired the plantations and the absolute jungle. After all, the first lunch served in a banana leaf was there! I remember very vividly, how the tour guides were looking at me, when I took out of my bag a jar with olives from home. Some of them had never tried “Greek olives” before, and they were even more excited when they tasted them. You could see in their faces the confirmation that, so far, something was missing from lunch. I am glad that I made that quick decision to buy them just few km before we entered Turkey. Without a doubt, pickles help the good function of the intestines, boost your blood pressure when you need it and keep you appetite alert!
After lunch, I decided not to follow the group to the next location, but instead stay in the shade and practice some yoga. The next boat-house we supposed to get on was an open boat without any cover, and since it was so hot in the middle of the day, I felt that not going on with the boat trip was a much better choice for me. Sometimes, traveling, and especially for those people who work in an office environment, can be tiring, because holidays can be compact into a two or three-weeks period, and the program might be so intense making the holidays really tiring and the person homesick..
That’s why many times when we travel we should listen our heart and what we really need, for me at this moment where I am typing this word for example I have to tell you that keeping update the blog or my thoughts is not so easy, computers are shutting down, electricity sometimes is not working and my plans going totally different direction and calling me to follow them..
traveling in India is a unique experience and please forgive me for not being up to date, but I assure you that you will see through my eyes all what I see, love from me.
